Meet Jeanette!
Hello,
I’m Jeanette Sanderson. I live in North Carolina. I have lived in this state all my life. I grew up on a working farm and loved it. Cows, pigs, chickens, blueberries, tobacco (yes, way back then), soy beans (get a plus for that!) and corn … and we even grew our own vegetables, milked our cow and made our own butter. It really was another world. And, even though I moved to the “big city” (which for me was Raleigh, NC) many years ago, I still enjoy the simple life.
I have one niece and three nephews, all whom I adore and cherish. It is such a blessing to watch them grow and mature into young adults … they are all so smart and creative. It seems like only yesterday I was running around in the yard with a cape and sword playing some make-believe drama with them. (Of course, I have parents and siblings and all that … or I wouldn’t be “Aunt Jeanette”!)
So, at my home, it is me and my sweet cat, Lucy, who I adopted from my niece … who happens to attract strays! If Lucy needs something and I don’t respond …. she will find a piece of paper and start tearing it … maybe I should give her a short pencil and see what happens!
Art is my passion. I enjoy charcoals and watercolors when I’m working. It is a wonderful emotional outlet. I collect art from locals or from my travels. I do have a couple of prints from the early impressionists. My absolute favorite is Renoir’s The Beach At Pornic. Probably because it is more a plen aire without his customary models. What intrigues me about all the impressionists is how they encouraged each other and even painted one another. And, it is so interesting to view their paintings and see how they used their friends as models, often in numerous paintings. So, though famous now, we see evidence that at one time they were making their way following their heart, their passion and their dreams and, in most cases, never realizing the impact they would have on the world and unfortunately, never realizing the financial rewards.
When I travel, I like to select a location and stay put … visiting the area and just relaxing. Some of my favorite spots … the mountains of North Carolina, especially the Waynesville /Ashville area. And, I have a couple of favorite places in Maine, like Booth Bay Harbor. I like to fly into Boston and drive up the New England coast. And, of course, on the other side … San Francisco, the northern wine country … and Carmel to the south. I purchased my first original painting in Carmel. I do spend some time on the North Carolina/South Carolina coast line. Holden Beach is my favorite spot. I spend time with my parents who have a lovely place on a peninsula across from the island. My dad has crab pots hanging off both piers and on one side he has his blueberry bushes, grape vines and then summer and fall veggies. We’re an oyster-roasting family … and use any occasion to have an oyster roast (in season, of course).
I have such a diverse career (jobs) … from Recreation Therapist to Paralegal in more recent years. I have worked at law firms and large corporations so I’ve been around, so to speak, in the Paralegal arena. I’ve also survived several layoffs. Then, one day the light bulb went off and I realized that there is no job in the world that is safe. Working for someone else, I was always helping them reach their life goals, not mine.
I realized that owning my own business was the only way I would ever have freedom of time and the money to make choices. I investigated several avenues and started my own business and market online. This has been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made and I have never regretted it once!
Something I will share, though, is that there is a right way and a not so right way to market online. I learned this when I built my first website. I was so proud … I got it up and just sat back thinking I was going to get floods of people contacting me. Well, what I failed to understand and, honestly, had not been told … was how getting a website is just a beginning … and … not even the best spot to begin. So, being the tenacious, persistent person I am … I started researching and learning there really are some critical steps to online marketing … just like there is with offline …
Through this website, StepsToOnlineMarketing.com, I would like to share some of the many things I’ve learned. I challenge you to explore beyond what I can possibly share … but take my tips and tools as a conduit … feel free to learn from my mistakes … some things you might want to pursue and others may not fit into your style or your goals … but feel free to take away anything helpful! Remember, though … I share STEPS .. there is no giant leap … and like a baby beginning to walk … it takes practice and failures and trying on different platforms with different shoes .. be patient with yourself and be willing to explore new things … but, most importantly … NEVER GIVE UP! As my mom says “keep a’going” …
My goal is to help you be successful in YOUR business … after all … there’s no way we can all be in the same business. That would not produce a healthy economy. Imagine all the restaurants of the world serving nothing but hotdogs! Get my point! Successful people are good for the economy … so your success in whatever business you are in will indirectly affect me and our global economy. Sound corny … well, I really believe this.
Thanks for visiting, feel free to email me and let me know more about you.
Jeanette
